10 Film Hollywood Spektakuler 2011

Memasuki tahun 2011, setelah menyampirkan harapan tinggi-tinggi pada resolusi yang akan kita capai di Tahun Kelinci ini, ada baiknya kita simak beberapa film-film spektakuler Hollywood yang “layak tonton” dan pantas masuk dalam rekomendasi sepanjang tahun 2011. Banyak diantaranya merupakan sekuel atau prekuel film sukses sebelumnya. Ini dia 10 film pilihan terbatas yang masuk dalam daftar film prioritas yang akan saya tonton tahun ini (moga-moga selera saya selaras pula dengan selera anda):

Green Hornet (Januari 2011) :

Seth Rogen (Knocked Up, Pinneaple Express) berperan sebagai Britt Reid pahlawan bertopeng Green Hornet dalam film yang diarahkan oleh sutradara Michael Gondry ini. Britt adalah putra seorang pemilik surat kabar dan dalam aksinya ia ditemani oleh karyawan ayahnya, Kato (peran ini pernah dimainkan pula oleh alm. Bruce Lee) yang diperankan oleh artis Taiwan, Jay Chou. Dikisahkan dalam film yang diangkat dari serial Radio ciptaan George W Trendle berjudul sama dan akan rilis pertengahan Januari ini, Sejak kematian ayahnya yang misterius, Britt Reid,anak pemilik surat kabar terkenal di Los Angeles yang dulunya adalah pemuda yang senang berhura-hura akhirnya menyadari bisa berbuat sesuatu yang bermakna untuk hidup. Ditemani oleh Kato mereka berkeliling kota membasmi kejahatan dengan mengendarai The Black Beauty, mobil ciptaan Kato yang canggih dan tak mudah dihancurkan. Film ini dimeriahkan pula oleh Cameron Diaz, yang berperan sebagai Lenore Chase (sekretaris Britt)

Fast and Furious V (April 2011) :

Vin Diesel dan Paul Walker akan kembali beraksi dalam film kebut-kebutan mobil dengan adegan-adegan berbahaya memacu adrenalin yang disutradarai oleh Justin Lin dan skenarionya ditulis oleh Chris Morgan ini. Petualangan Dominic Toretto dan Brian O’Conner yang melarikan diri dari petugas hukum akan menjadi daya tarik film yang akan dirilis pada akhir April 2011 ini.

Kungfu Panda II (Mei 2011) :

Sekuel Kungfu Panda ini dipastikan akan menarik banyak penonton untuk menyaksikannya di bioskop. Po (suaranya diisi oleh Jack Black) Sang pendekar Panda menghadapi Lord Shen (Gary Oldman) yang memiliki sebuah senjata rahasia yang sangat berbahaya. Lord Shen terobsesi untuk menguasai seluruh negeri dan berencana menghancurkan ilmu bela diri Kung Fu. Po mendapat bantuan dari The SoothSayer (Michelle Yeoh), Master Skunkman (James Woods), Master Croc (Jean-Claude Van Damme), dan Master Thundering Rhino oleh (Victor Garber) . Aksi-aksi seru dan lucu PO bersama kawan-kawannya menggagalkan rencana jahat Lord Shen itu ditampilkan secara ciamik dalam film ini.

Pirates of Caribbean : On the Strangers Tide (Mei 2011)

Kapten Jack Sparrow (Johny Deep) berpetualang bersama Angelica (Penelope Cruzz) mencari mata air kehidupan yang konon tidak membuat seseorang bertambah tua sedikitpun. Masalah kian runyam ketika Jack menyadari bahwa Angelica tak lain adalah putri dari bajak laut Blackbeard (Ian McShane), musuh besar Jack Sparrow. Tapi perjalanan sudah dimulai dan Jack tak akan mengurungkan niatnya sedikitpun untuk melaksanakan niatnya.

X-Men : First Class (Juni 2011) :

Penggemar Wolverine (diperankan oleh Hugh Jackman) mesti bersiap-siap kecewa dalam film yang merupakan prekuel dari film-film X-Men sebelumnya karena tokoh tersebut tidak muncul dalam film ini. X-Men : First Class memang mengisahkan awal mula epik X-Men yakni mengangkat masa muda Charles Xavier dan Erik Magnus Lensherr sebelum didirikannya Xavier School For Gifted Youngster . School of Mutant Resources mereka dirikan seusai menamatkan sekolah di Oxford untuk meneliti dan mempelajari fenomena baru yang terjadi pada manusia yaitu "homo superior", yaitu manusia jenis mutan yg memiliki gen X. Siswa yang belajar di sekolah khusus itu awalnya adalah Jean Grey, Scott Summers, Hank McCoy, Ororo Munroe, Raven Darkholme, Mortimer Toynbee dan Emma Frost. Perbedaan pemahaman dan idealisme membuat kedua sahabat ini menuai konflik hingga akhirnya justru menjadi seteru yang saling menghancurkan.

Harry Potter and The Deathly Hallows, Part 2 (Juli 2011) :

Ini adalah film yang ditunggu-tunggu oleh para penggemar Harry Potter sebagai edisi pamungkas rangkaian film Harry Potter sebelumnya, setelah sebelumnya mengikuti episode pertama menjelang akhir tahun 2010. Film ini masih tetap diperankan oleh Daniel Radcliffe, Emma Watson, Rupert Grint.

Transformers 3 : Dark Of The Moon (Juli 2011) :

Dua serial film Transformers sebelumnya berhasil menuai sukses besar dan pada episode ketiga ini para penggemar Megan Fox harus siap-siap kecewa karena artis sexy yang pada 2 episode sebelumnya berperan sebagai Mikaela Banes, kekasih sang tokoh utama, Sam Witwicky, tidak terlibat dalam Transformer 3. Meski tanpa Megan Fox lagi, film ini kembali akan menggelar aksi-aksi spektakuler dan efek sinematografi canggih lebih dashyat dari 2 film sebelumnya. Jadi bersiaplah saksikan kehebatan robot Optimus Prime, Bumble Bee, Iron Hide, Ratchet, Sides Wipes,Megatron, Starscream, dan Soundwave berjibaku dalam film ini.

Captain America : The First Avenger (Agustus 2011)

Chris Evans pemeran manusia api dalam film “Fantastic Four” akan berperan sebagai Steve Rogers alias Captain America. Kisah ini menampilkan setting tahun 1940-an dimana Steve Rogers – seorang prajurit yang tidak bisa turun ke medan perang untuk melawan Nazi karena fisiknya dianggap tidak layak—diminta untuk menjalani sebuah program rahasia militer yang dapat mengubah dirinya menjadi manusia super.

Spy Kids 4: All The Time in the World (Agustus 2011)

Jessica Alba akan berperan sebagai Marissa Cortez Wilson (Jessica Alba) mantan agen rahasia yang menikah dengan reporter televisi pemburu agen mata-mata terkenal Wilbur (Joel McHale) dan ibu tiri dari dua anak kembar yang sangat cerdas Rebecca (Rowan Blanchard) dan Cecil (Mason Cook) dalam film Spy Kids 4 yang disutradarai oleh Robert Rodriguez. Jeremy Piven yang berperan sebagai tokoh antagonis dalam film ini mengancam akan mengambil alih bumi dan menghentikan waktu. Marissa dipanggil oleh Markas Besar OSS untuk mencegah aksi kejahatan tersebut dengan didampingi oleh Carmen (Alexa Vega) dan adiknya Juni Cortez (Daryl Sabara), anggota Spy Kids yang sudah beranjak remaja.

Mission Impossible 4: Ghost Protocol (Desember 2011) :

Aktor tampan Tom Cruise kembali akan membintangi film kolosal Mission Impossible IV berjudul “Ghost Protocol” yang rencananya akan ditayangkan perdana oleh Paramount Pictures 6 Desember 2011. Pada film yang gambarnya diambil di Dubai, Praha dan Canada ini, Tom akan didampingi oleh artis pendukung seperti Aktor Jeremy Renner dan aktris Paula Patton.

Mommie Dearest Inspired Fashion Shoot

'No Wire Hangers,Ever!!' is the notorious line from the dark camp classic movie 'Mommie Dearest'. I found this dark,chilling yet stunning photo shoot inspired by the film and I just had to share it here.

 

 

 

Hubble Bubble Toil & Trouble!

Ever since I was a toddler I have been obsessed with Witches. Obsessed. It all started when I saw 'The Wizard Of Oz' and from their I developed an unhealthy diet of all things witches,oz and fairytales. In a recent discussion about witches and films about them I realised there was not too many well known films about my favourite villians and sometimes heroines. After some good research I present to you a list of standout witches and films that you should check out if have not seen them already . . 


First up it is of course The Wicked Witch Of The West from the 1939 movie,The Wizard Of Oz'. There have been many versions of this character of the years but Margaret Hamilton's portryal of the witch and the decision to make her skin green made a huge impact on the public.When many people think 'witch' they think of this character. And lets not forget her for, Glinda The Good Witch, played here by actress Billie Burke.
The on screen chemistry between the two is further explored in the Broadway and West End musical, 'Wicked' in which it is discovered that the two are actually friends and gives in insight into the real story behind the pair and what really happened after Dororthy's arrival. 

 

 

Another Oz witch,Mombie, featured here in the 1985 Disney cult classic,'Return To Oz'. This head stealing witch creeped every child out when she runs after a young Dorothy (played by Fairuza Balk who later went on to star as an evil witch herself in 'The Craft' and in 'The Worst Witch') with no head and later returns to her hall of heads to pick a new one out.

The 1980's classic ,'The Witches of Eastwick' features a brilliant ensemble cast of Susan Sarandon,Cher, Michelle Prieffer and Jack Nicholsan as the devil himself. Part comedy,part horror and part fantasy this film is fantastic and is defintley worth watching even for the effects alone.

The early 90's Disney classic ,'Hocus Pocus' again features a great ensemble. This trio of witches return to Salem in modern times to wreak havoc and steal the lives of all the children, but also face their own deamons - modern technology. Although intended as a children's comedy,it has alot of laugh out loud moments but still retains a dark tone and some great effects. Notable for Sarah Jessica Parkers brilliant song 'Come Little Children' as she flies over Salem.

 

Michelle Pfieffer steals the show as the head of the trio of sister witches in 'Stardust'. Evil,funny and sexy all at the same time.

In 1990 Angelica Houston played the role of a lifetime in Roal Dahl's 'The Witches'. Again a children's movie but a very dark one. I remember crying my eyes out with terror the first time I saw this as a young child, and I loved it! very dark,very creepy and very brilliant.Check it out.

 

A special note has to go to the witches in the Disney classics. Maleficant in 'Sleeping Beauty' is both sarcastic and scary while the original Queen and witch of 'Snow White' is terrifying in her change to the haggered witch.

'The Little Mermaid's Sea Witch Ursela is brilliant in being evil,scary and somewhat loveable at the same time. Big girls are beautiful.

 

'The Craft' was released in 1996 and mixed teen angst with witchcraft,horror and a soundtrack to die for. Fairuza Balk (Return To Oz) went from dark child to evil witch in this teen classic. A pure standout in the teen horror section this film is a must see for fans of witches and the occult.

In the 1980's Cannon Films released a series of Fairy Tale films. Low budget,dark but absloutley brilliant, these films were all given to me as a child. And terrifyed me. 'Snow White' sees the queen don many scary outfits,worst of all a singing creepy Geisha outside Snow Whites window.shiver. In the end the Queen literally falls apart in a disturbing scene.

'Hansel & Gretel' still scares me to this day. The witch played by Floris Leechman is more scary in her granny disguise while leering at the children through her eye glass while creepy music plays. She then bursts into the room in witch form and enslaves the children. 

 

The next film,'Teen Witch' is a hit and miss with audiences. Part musical, part fantasy this film is simply about a teen who discovers she has magical powers. A bit silly but enjoyable. Currently talks are on to remake the movie.

'I Married A Witch' is an old classic. Loveable & cute, this witch just wants to make her 'fella' fall for her and goes out of her way to make that happen.

There are many other films with involve Witches,many however just aint up to scratch! If you have any films worth mentioning please mail me!

A special note to TV witches. Although there are many, the ones that stand out the most to me are 'Buffy The Vampire Slayer's' Willow Rosenberg. Better when she was a complete pshycopath I think. 

'Sabrina The Teenage Witch' was and will always be fantastic and enjoyable television and Melissa Joan Hart bears no faults bringing this character to life.

The tv show 'HEX' features dark female ghosts,witches and deamons. Cool,sexy and scary!

The original cast of Charmed is also worth a mention,the first few seasons were pretty good and then things just went quickly down hill.

No tv witch list is worth its brew without mentioning Samantha from Bewitched. As I child I always loved the cartoon opening and her quirky mother.
